Emily Kate was born on 25 October 1841 at Ootacamund in the Nigiri Hills. Perhaps by then the family was established in the town.
Having spent some years in England with Great Aunt Frances and her sister Emma she was married at Madras on 28 February 1862 to James Fitzgerald who was 23. I have no notes on any children from this marriage.
